Native dishes include cracked conch, fresh grouper fingers and locally caught lobster. A wide range of supplies are offered just down the road at Ruby's Market. Here you will find guava jam made right here in the Bahamas. Many ladies in the community sell their hand-made straw work in the store fronts - you can even catch them at their work if you look in the shade of the palm trees. There are endless beaches to comb on the eastern shore with wonderful snorkeling and shell hunting, The water is the most beautiful shade of turquiose you will ever see. The weather is always at its best in Black Point. No matter what time of year you chose to travel to the Exumas, you will discover warm, pleasant weather. In the summer months the average temperature is 85 degrees (F). In the winter months the average air temperature is in the mid 70's with water temperatures a wonderful 70-80 degrees all year long.
Black Point is located on the island of Great Guana in the jewel of Bahamian Islands called The Exuma Cays (a.k.a. "Exumas"). Great Guana lies approximately 75 miles south of Nassau and 250 miles of southeast of Florida. The island is the largest island in the northern Exumas. Two the north just five miles is Staniel Cay and to the south is the island of Little Farmers Cay.

Great Guana is still a small island as are most of the islands in the Exuma chain, but the island has most of what anyone could need: a church, post office, library, retail shops, food markets and restaurants. You will never tire of walking the endless beautiful beaches of Great Guana Cay where the water is some of the clearest in the world. Snorkel the reefs on the eastern shore for a glimpse at the gorgous fish and sea life that inhabit the Exumas. Deep sea fishing, diving and bone fishing are also available throughout the Exumas. You can rent a sunfish or skiff to explore the waters for yourself, or take a local guide along. Golf carts are also for rent to explore the areas hidden treasures.
There are caves to explore on the southern end of the island as well as a driftwood and shell "Garden of Eden" located in Black Point. There are three churches, two grocery stores, native straw work to paruse, and three local restaurants. Sit back and relax at Club Scoripo and enjoy a cockail and some local music, or play a game of pool with local friends. Join us for Regatta week the first weekend in August and see the locals strut their stuff on their Bahamaian Sloops.
